36th MCCE Working Board

The 36th meeting of the MCCE Working Board was hosted by Sweden and took place in Stockholm on 4–5 November 2025.

A total of 22 Participant Nations attended the meeting in person.

DMCCE provided an overview of MCCE activities over the past year, including plans for future development. CH OPS MCCE delivered a detailed update, highlighting the key operational figures and trends from the last reporting period.

DDMCCE presented the updated flagging chart, after which decisions were made regarding the future manning of MCCE positions. In addition, the WB approved a new budget of €688K for the coming period. The Host Nation also offered a briefing on Sweden and NATO’s defence posture in the High North.

The Standing Advisory Working Group (SAWG) Chair briefed the Board on the status of the TA amendments. The Future and Adaptation Working Group (FAWG) Chair, building on previous presentations, provided an update on the material that will be delivered during the upcoming virtual Steering Board in December.

This WB also marked a moment of firsts and lasts. It was the first WB for the new DMCCE, Colonel Erik van de Ven, and the last WB for outgoing Chair, Major Toomas Pärnpuu (EST). We thank Toomas for his commitment and leadership over the past years; he will continue to serve as Estonia’s representative within the MCCE framework.

The 36th MCCE Working Board was both successful and productive, with important decisions taken and valuable ideas shared. We look forward to continuing this positive momentum during the next meetings.

MCCE extends its sincere thanks to all participating nations for their engagement and to the Host Nation for the excellent support provided.
