Japan Joins the MCCE Network as a Third Party

The Movement Coordination Centre Europe (MCCE) is pleased to announce that Japan has joined the MCCE network as a Third Party, marking an important step in strengthening cooperation with partners in the Pacific region.

Japan demonstrated strong interest in cooperation with the MCCE during a delegation visit on 11 February 2026 and subsequently indicated its intention to pursue Third Party status.

In recognition of Japan’s interest and its potential contribution to strengthening the MCCE’s international engagement and cooperation, the MCCE Working Board voted to accept Japan as a Third Party.

On 8 September 2026, the Japanese delegation, led by Rear Admiral Tetsuji Kanayama, signed a Letter of Intent with the MCCE, formally establishing the relationship.

Japan’s integration further broadens the MCCE network and represents a significant step towards enhancing cooperation and coordination with an important partner in the Pacific region.
